PIG BIO HERE
It's important to realize mini pigs can grow to be 150 pounds! The size of a very large dog. These mini pigs are pets, not human food pigs. They can live inside and be litterbox trained, but it's important that they have somewhere they can go outside too. The American Mini Pig Association has fantastic information about mini pigs. We encourage all adopters to join this Association. They have been a huge help to us! The adoption fee for pigs is $275 for one or $500 for two. Each pig has been spayed or neutered and dewormed. They have been socialized with many volunteers and make wonderful pets. Unfortunately, the adoption return rate on mini pigs is over 90%. Because of this we want to make sure every pig adopter truly understands what living with a pig is like. The adoption process for pigs requires potential adopters fill out our online Pig Adoption Application and provide two references. We need to make sure all family members are on board with adding a pig to the family and we'll be doing a home visit. We're requiring adopters volunteer a total of four hours (can be two days of two hours) to help us take care of the pigs to get a real feel for what adopting a pig means. Animal Allies Florida rescued 8 mini pigs abandoned off Avalon Blvd in Milton, Florida in January 2018. Three of the females had 17 piglets. This is the first time rescuing pigs. We've been learning as we go, much thanks again to the American Mini Pig Association. If you can't adopt a pig at this time but would like to sponsor a pig or even volunteer - we'd love to have your help! You can see more pictures of our mini pigs on our Facebook page Avalon Mini Pigs - Animal Allies Florida. More about ThelmaRequires a yard
